Come experience Claresholm, where the Wheatlands meet the Range. The inconvenience of its location, right on Highway #2, will make you stop the first time; the hospitality, people, services and scenery will make you come back again and again. The Wheatlands to the east and the Porcupine Hills to the West have made Claresholm an ideal location and a first class destination place! Claresholm was named in 1989 by John Niblick, a Canadian Pacific Railway superintendent. His wife name was Clare, and they referred to their house as “Clare’s home.” The first building erected were the water tower for the trains, and a section house for supplies needed to build the rail board which come through what is now Claresholm in 1891. Claresholm was incorporated as a village June 15,1903 and a town in August31, 1905. In 1940, as part of the British Commonwealth Air Training Program, Claresholm was home to the number 15 service Flight Training School, training over 1800 pilots. The Harvard Memorial commemorates the contributions of pilots, mechanics and air crew who trained Claresholm.
